Yesterday's trek included a rainy walk down, and then up, approximately 180 stairs (not that I was counting*) to Dunnottar Castle. Some parts of the castle ruins were built in the late 1300s and are still standing there today. It was incredible to walk through the rooms and get a vague sense for what life in a castle on a cliff would feel like.
Then I imagined what it would be like having to build said castle, and I was very thankful that I didn't have to lug large stones up said cliff.
*I was counting. It was about 180 stairs.
Today was a beautiful day full of sunshine, rain, 15 seconds of hail, and then more sunshine as we took a train to Glasgow and spent the day exploring. We walked around a bit of Glasgow University, and then went to the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum which had some excellent exhibits.
